English Student Theatre — Senior Ensemble
with Mladinsko Theatre
The ESLJ English Student Theatre is a new partnership with the Mladinsko Theatre, bringing professional actors into school to run a theatre programme delivered entirely in English and concluding in a public performance. The Senior Ensemble is the group for S5–S7, where older students explore more complex themes, characters and theatre techniques than the junior group, working towards a production chosen to match their abilities and interests. Keeping the ensemble age-appropriate and small is deliberate: with 100 minutes a week, a focused group means every student gets real time on stage, active participation and genuine responsibility within the production.
Working with peers of a similar age also makes for a safer, more relaxed environment for creative expression. Students will develop greater self-confidence and performance skills, stronger communication and collaboration, creativity, imagination and personal expression, and experience of teamwork and shared responsibility — alongside a stronger sense of belonging and the chance to work with established actors they may have seen on stage and on screen.
